Training Where Your Team Builds a Working System.

What if your team came out of the training knowing more than just commands –and had built a working system together?

We train IT teams in container fundamentals with Podman and Docker, container operations with Kubernetes, automation with Ansible and monitoring with Zabbix – as corporate training on site or in a virtual classroom. Instead of twenty disconnected exercises, participants work on one continuous hands-on project and leave with a result they built themselves and can carry over into their daily work.

Since 2017 Technical training, from the fundamentals to tailored corporate courses
One Hands-On Project Every exercise contributes to a shared target picture – across courses
Your Own Lab A complete lab environment for every participant, in the browser, nothing to install
Ask the Trainer One hour for your practical questions, two to four weeks after the course

The Teaching Concept

One Story Instead of Twenty Separate Exercises

Clusterhausen Waffle Works – a fictional company, handmade since 1998 – is growing, and its IT has to grow with it. This company is the common thread running through our courses. Participants take on a clear role and, over several days, build a connected system piece by piece, with real tools and real errors.

On the first morning, the target picture is in place: a map showing what will be running by the end of the course. It returns before every chapter and highlights the next building block. Everyone always knows where they stand and what the current topic is for. A sequence of topics becomes a project the group sees through together.

In the container course, the team moves the order shop from the server behind the bakery into containers and makes it production-ready. In the Ansible course, the online shop moves from a hosting provider to the company’s own servers, and the participants are the automation team. In the Kubernetes course, the platform team brings the same shop into the cluster and makes it reachable at its own address. In the Zabbix course, the growing business gets monitoring that keeps an eye on the shop, the order system and the branches.

The story is not an end in itself. It provides technically sound reasons for every topic – two environments for testing and production, an update with a fallback, a failure test under load – and makes connections visible that get lost in isolated exercises. Anyone who attends several courses will recognize everything. Anyone who attends just one misses nothing.

How Your Team Learns

Teaching That Holds Up in Daily Work

Our courses were completely revised in 2026. Six building blocks make sure that course days turn into solid skills – and that nobody falls behind along the way.

Target Picture from Day One

The project map shows from the start where the journey is heading. Every chapter visibly fits into that picture.

Growing Independence

The first exercises provide close guidance. From one exercise sheet to the next, the participants take on more themselves – up to transfer tasks that only define the goal and the acceptance criteria.

Prediction Checks

Every verifying command is preceded by a prediction: what should happen now? Copying turns into thinking, and deviations turn into aha moments.

Controlled Failure Scenarios

Typical pitfalls are built in on purpose – with a diagnostic task and a way out. This lets participants practice troubleshooting before they face it in production.

Nobody Gets Stuck

The exercises come with tested reference solutions and restore points. Anyone who gets stuck loads a working state and carries straight on.

Maintained, Not Patched Together

Our own explanatory graphics, consistent materials and exercises tested before every course. Content is continuously updated to current versions.

Our Courses

Training with One Continuous Hands-On Project

Each course stands on its own and does not require any other course. What they all share is the hands-on project, a dedicated lab environment for every participant and the goal that something is up and running at the end.

3 days Beginner

Container Training

From the first container start to a production-ready stack: containers with Podman and Docker, your own images, data and networking, Compose, your own registry, security and autostart with systemd.

  • Understanding container technology – namespaces, cgroups and OCI
  • Your own images with Containerfiles and multi-stage builds
  • Volumes, networks and pods for multi-container applications
  • Compose, your own registry and image scanning
  • Rootless operation, autostart with Quadlet, update and rollback

The business moves its order shop from the server behind the bakery into containers – the participants are the operations team.

Kubernetes Training

From the first pod to a hardened, reachable deployment: architecture, manifests, services, configuration, rollouts with probes, persistent data, Ingress and hardening.

  • Deployments, Services and DNS in the cluster
  • Cleanly separating ConfigMaps and Secrets
  • Rolling updates, probes and rollback when things go wrong
  • Persistent data with volumes and PVCs
  • Ingress, resource limits and securityContext

The business brings its shop to Kubernetes – the participants are the platform team.

5 days Beginner to advanced

Ansible Training

From the first ad-hoc command to patch day across all servers: Linux and Windows automation with playbooks, roles, templates, Vault and collections, plus testing with Molecule and custom modules.

  • Idempotent playbooks and reusable roles
  • Updates with backup and rollback via block/rescue/always
  • Secrets in Vault, quality with ansible-lint
  • Automating Windows servers via WinRM and SSH
  • Dynamic inventory, Molecule and custom modules

The online shop moves from a hosting provider to the company’s own servers – the participants are the automation team.

Zabbix Training

Build monitoring, tap into data sources, alert the right way: Zabbix from architecture and agent through templates, preprocessing and the HTTP agent to escalation, proxies and security.

  • Templates, items and triggers without alert floods
  • Agent, SNMP, SSH, log files, REST APIs and push data
  • Alerting with escalation chains
  • Proxies, proxy groups and encryption
  • Dashboards, maintenance windows and housekeeping

The growing business gets monitoring – the participants are the monitoring team.

Individual Training

Individual Training – a Workshop on Your Topic

Not every team needs a full course. In an individual training, we focus on the area your team is currently dealing with – guided by your questions and, if you wish, using your own environment.

WorkshopDuration as neededIn-house or remoteQuoted individually

Individual Training Workshop

You bring the topics, we turn them into a workshop: with expert input, hands-on work on your specific case and results your team can put to use right away. Individual training is a good fit for teams that already work with the tool and want to move forward on a specific point.

Topic Areas

Request Individual Training
  • Your Topics – for example role and collection structure or Windows automation with Ansible, hardening and troubleshooting in Kubernetes, alerting without alert floods or proxies in Zabbix.
  • Your Level – Depth and pace are based on your team’s level of knowledge, not on a fixed agenda.
  • Your Environment – If you wish, we work with examples from your operations – or in our prepared lab environment.
  • Your Outcome – At the end, you have answered questions, proven approaches and a team that can take them further on its own.

The Lab Environment

Practice in an Environment That Simply Works

Hands-on learning needs a reliable environment. Every participant gets their own fully prepared lab environment – no installation effort and no preparation required from your IT department.

Your Own Environment per Participant

Nobody shares systems or waits for others. Everyone works in their own environment and can experiment safely.

Access via the Browser

Access is conveniently through the web browser. No local installation is needed, and your IT department does not have to open anything up.

Fully Tested Before Every Course

All exercises are run through completely in the lab environment before the course. Tools and images are ready, so course time is spent on learning.

Get Back on Track Anytime

Ready-made restore points let participants continue from a working state after a break or a mistake.

Formats

In-House, Remote and Tailored to Your Team

In-House at Your Site

The training takes place on your premises. Your team learns together, can bring in questions from its own operations directly and only needs a computer with a browser.

Remote in a Virtual Classroom

As online training with live instruction, joint exercise phases and direct support in the lab environment. Well suited to distributed teams and multiple locations.

Customized Corporate Training

Focus areas, depth and examples can be aligned with your environment. We clarify dates, scope and schedule in a short conversation beforehand.

Individual Training as a Workshop

Your team already works with containers, Kubernetes, Ansible or Zabbix and wants to dive deeper into a specific topic? Then a tailored workshop is the right fit – see the Individual Training section.

After the course

Ask the Trainer

The real work starts after the course. That is why every training includes an Ask the Trainer session: two to four weeks after the course, we meet online for one hour. Your participants send in the questions that came up while applying what they learned in your environment. That leaves the session free for what matters: specific answers for your systems, not the textbook case. The session is included in the price.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions About Our Training

Who is the training intended for?
Our courses are designed for companies that want to develop their IT team in a targeted way – for example administrators, DevOps engineers, platform and operations teams. Each course page describes the target audience and prerequisites in detail.
Are the courses also available online?
Yes. All courses can be booked as in-house training on site or remotely in a virtual classroom. The lab environment is the same in both formats and is used via the browser.
Do the courses have to be taken in a particular order?
No. Each course stands on its own and does not require any of the others. The shared storyline simply means that participants who attend several courses will recognize a lot. If you have not built your own containers yet, the container training is a good starting point before the Kubernetes training.
What is Clusterhausen Waffle Works all about?
Clusterhausen Waffle Works is a fictional company that ties all the exercises of a course together into one connected project. This creates realistic reasons for every topic and a clear target picture the group works toward together.
What is individual training?
A workshop on a topic of your choice in the areas of containers, Kubernetes, Ansible and Zabbix. Instead of a fixed agenda, we dive into the questions your team is dealing with right now – duration, content and format are agreed with you in advance.
Can the agenda be adapted to our environment?
Yes. We align focus areas, examples and deep dives with your team and your infrastructure. Just let us know what you have in mind when you send your request.
How much does a training course cost?
The container training, the Kubernetes training and the Zabbix training (3 days each) cost €5,950 net each, the Ansible training (5 days) costs €9,950 net. These are fixed prices per training for teams of up to 8 participants, including course materials, lab environment and Ask the Trainer session, plus travel expenses for on-site delivery. Custom workshops are quoted individually.
Is there a bundle offer for Containers and Kubernetes?
Yes. The bundle offer learning path Containers + Kubernetes costs €9,950 net for both courses, booked separately it would be €11,900. Both courses are self-contained and run as separate dates.
What is the Ask the Trainer session?
A one-hour online session two to four weeks after the course, no later than six weeks after the course ends. Your participants submit their questions up to three business days before the session and the trainer prepares the answers. The session is included in the fixed price and covers questions related to the course topic. For in-depth consulting on your own environment, we are happy to prepare a separate offer.
How many people can take part?
Our training is designed for teams of up to 8. We recommend small groups so that there is enough time for questions and individual support during the exercises.
What language are the courses held in?
German or English. This applies to the course as well as the materials: participants receive slides, exercise sheets and reference solutions in the language chosen.
